July 1989-August 1989: Trip to Ann Arbor
There were many summers when I would go stay with the Gonyos for about a week. I always enjoyed seeing my cousins, Kim, Wendy, and Joy.
July 25, 1989: The Gonyos came to Grandma's house in Muskegon, as they were taking Kim to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. She played the clarinet. Then, the rest of us drove to Ann Arbor, as I was going to spend the week with them.
July 26, 1989: Joy and I helped her next door neighbor, Amy Fiorentino, babysit her brother, Mark. Joy, Amy, Dana, and I went swimming at a pool next door.
July 28, 1989: Briarwood Mall
Had breakfast at Elias Brothers. I had a bad sore throat so wasn't feeling too well. I bought the Beaches movie tape at Record Towne.
July 29, 1989: Wendy
Wendy had been in the Appalachian mountains in Tennessee helping put down floor tiles, making a picnic table, and other things. I think she was doing this for a charity. She learned how to play the card game, "Spoons", so she taught Joy and I how to play the game.
July 31, 1989: Lawvers House
We went shopping at Briarwood Mall and then over to Skip and Jo Lawvers house at 8461 Acorne in Milan. We taught the boys how to play the card game, "Spoons". Walked with Jase out to their bird cage in the backyard to see his birds. Then, we played Super Mario Brothers on his Nintendo. Then, we all went to the Meijer store down the street from them. Jase and I went down the fishing aisle.
August 1, 1989: Relaxing
Cheryl Klee and Marianne Gonyo drove to Pittsburg, PA to pick up some of Marianne's mother's furniture. Wendy and I stayed in our nightgowns all day and watched General Hospital and other shows on TV.
August 3, 1989: George's Surprise Birthday Party
The Klees and Lawvers came over in the evening for my Uncle George's surprise birthday party. Dawn, Jase, Chad, Joy, Wendy and I played the card game, "Spoons" and "BS". Jase was telling me how he made this tie dye shirt. I showed Jo and Jase my pictures from the trip to San Francisco. He liked the ones of Alcatraz.
August 4, 1989: Batman Movie
At noon, we met the Lawvers at Showcase Movie Theater to see the movie "Batman". After the movie, Joy and I rode with the Lawvers to where Skip worked at Eastern Michigan University. Then, we went bowling. Chad, Jase, Wendy, and Marianne were on one team. Joy, Adam, Jo, and I were on the other team.
August 6, 1989: Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp
We drove to Muskegon. After church, we went to Blue Lake Fine Arts camp to see Kim perform in a concert. Then, we had a chicken dinner. We came back to Grandma's house at 1845 Manz St. in Muskegon. It was always hard to say goodbye to the Gonyos as I always had so much fun with them. I never had siblings, so they were like my sisters.

July 1989: San Francisco and Muir Woods
Mom and I flew to San Francisco for our vacation this year. We stayed near the Fisherman's Wharf. We took a tour of Alcatraz which was quite interesting. My mom and I got our pictures taken in Al Capone's cell. We saw the Golden Gate Bridge.
At the time, the show "Full House" was popular. I saw the houses that were featured on the opening segment of the show, so I was quite excited about that.
We took a cab down Lombard Street, which was the crookedest street in the world. We took a bus trip to Muir Woods to see the large redwood trees.
On this trip, I had my first Ghiradelli hot fudge sundae which was delicious. We had stayed at a hotel nearby, so we were able to walk most of the places which was nice.
