August 22, 1995: WMU with Mom & Grandma Gonyo

Mom and I took Grandma Gonyo to Western Michigan University to see the school and dorm I would be living in.    We stopped at the McDonalds in Coopersville for breakfast on the way.    The rooms in Harrison Hall looked terrible.    The carpet was dirty, walls had holes, and the desk was in bad condition.  I hope things go better.   My room number was going to be 305.   Then, we went through Bronco Mall.   Grandma was surprised at all of the foreigners.     We went through the Business building, which Grandma liked.    We showed her French Hall, which was where my mom stayed when she went to Western Michigan.

We had lunch at Rykses on Stadium Dr.    I got my books for my classes.

Then, we visited one of Grandma's friends, who wintered in Florida.    This couple lived in the summers in Portage, Michigan.   They lived in a gorgeous senior citizen apartment (Crossroads Village) off of Constitution Blvd.    Their names were Jess and Kathryn Adams.

On our way home, we had a rootbeer float at an outside restaurant that delivered your food on trays attached to your car.

Today was Kelsey's 21st birthday.  She went to a casino and won $140 at the slot machine.
