June 1989: Washington D.C. Trip - 8th Grade

Our 8th grade class went on a class trip to Washington D.C.      I bought this cute blue dress at Steketees and thought I was the bomb in it.   I found out later in the trip that I had the dress on backwards.  I was so embarrassed.     The dress could've been worn both ways, though, as long as I had a sweater on over it.

We saw the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Capitol Building, Arlington National Cemetery, Albert Einstein statue, Ford Theater, Washington Cathedral, Library of Congress, Air and Space Museum, Supreme Court, Great Awakening, and Mount Vernon.

There were 4 students in our class that could walk in the opening ceremony of the changing of the guards.   If I remember correctly,  you had to submit an essay that was voted on. Sarah Meisch, Kari Adams, Ryan Zolman, and Brett Cutler were chosen to walk in the ceremony.

I hung around Lisa Micka, Leah Engle, Sarah Meisch, Kris Barberini, Jeanne Kenny, and Karen Daly.
