July 2, 1991: Honolulu

We took a plane back to Honolulu for the day.    We spent time at the State Capitol and Iolani Palace.   We had lunch at a Jack-in-the Box, which were popular at the time.     At 9 p.m., we boarded the airplane for Chicago.

July 1, 1991: Waimea Canyon

Took a tour of Waimea Canyon, which is the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.   Saw some more blow holes.   We had a gecko in our hotel room, which freaked me out.    We had the TV on and saw that Michael Landon had passed away.   I loved watching him in "Little House on the Prairie".

June 30, 1991: Kauai

We left for the island of Kauai.    Went to the luau and got a kiss on the cheek while getting a necklace.   The roasted pig was neat, but gross looking.   We saw Fern Grotto and learned how to hula.  Also, we saw a hotel where Elvis filmed a movie.

June 29, 1991: Hana Tour

Our tour guide on the Hana Tour was gay.     He had all of the motions of a gay man.   It was pretty funny.   We got to try guava, tropical bananas, rosy apples, and mountain apples.  There were 660 curves on the Hana Tour.  We saw Charles Lindberg's grave.

June 27, 1991: Big Island of Hawaii

We stopped at Kona coffee for coffee and shopping.   Our next destination was to the Volcanoes National Park.  We saw the tallest active volcano in the world.   We had lunch and could see the view of the crater.      Stopped at the Kalapana Black Sand Beach. I felt the sand, which was not as soft as our beach sand.

Drank water out of the artesian well.   Went by the steam baths at the park.    Mom's camera got messed up due to the steam.    Then, we went to the Macadamia Nut Factory and to Rainbow Falls.

June 26, 1991: Snorkeling

One of our tour guides, Iwalani, left for Oahu in the morning because her daughter was sick in the hospital.    We went snorkeling where Captain Cook died in Kealakekua Bay.   It was fun looking at the fish and swimming with them.     Lillie worked as a substitute janitor and Paul was an electrician.    We hung out with them for most of the trip.
