Went on a trolley tour to the Mormon Temple. We went by Brigham Young University. Then, we went to the Polynesian Culture Center. We were told that the center is owned by the Mormon Temple and the kids work at the center for education money. The kids came from Tongo, Tahiti, and Hawaii. We saw a movie a movie of the Polynesian islands. I tried 'poi' in the Hawaiian village. It tasted like wax.

June 22, 1991: Pearl Harbor Cruise/Charo Show
We went on the Pearl Harbor cruise. The ride was boring over there. I started to feel sick on the boat. Lillie and Paul came with us. After lunch, Mom and I went swimming in the Pacific Ocean. The water was so warm. Our tour guide said that the water was between 72-75 degrees year round. I got salt in my mouth which I didn't like.
In the evening, we went to the Hilton Hawaiian Village for the 'Charo Show'. The buffet was really good. Mom and I had our picture taken with Charo. Charo said to me that I had a nice face. Charo brought up one of our passengers from the bus, Carolyn, who had red hair. Charo told Carolyn, 'Why did you put a lady with bigger tits than me up front?' Charo played her guitar which was wonderful. Charo was known as the 'Coochie, Coochie' girl. She was on some episodes of the "Love Boat".

June 21, 1991: Oahu
Took a tour of Nu'uanu Pali Lookout to Diamond Head Crater and then to the Punchbowl. The cemetery was real pretty. It had 70-80 steps up to the chapel. Went to Hanauma Bay and saw where 'Blue Hawaii' was filmed. Went through Pearl City and then to the Dole Pineapple Plantation. We had pineapple ice cream and Maui style potato chips. We went up to Waimea Bay and saw the ocean. The sand wasn't as soft as ours. Many of the homes in Oahu are over $1 million.

June 18, 1991: Hawaii
Our plane left at 7:30 a.m., then stopped in Chicago and then San Francisco before heading to Oahu, Hawaii. There was a 6 hour time difference between Hawaii and Michigan. Our tour guide's name was Pat. He was Hawaiian. He told us that ABC stores are on every corner in Waikiki. Waikiki means 'spurting water'. Honolulu means 'fair heaven'. Oahu was first settled 1,000 years ago by the Marquesans. Kamehameha took Oahu in 1795 and the traders discovered that Honolulu had the largest deepwater harbor in the islands. Three million visitors visit Honolulu and 400,000 people lived in Honolulu. I met a nice couple from Ohio, Lillie and Paul Cantrell.
We had a picture taken with our leis at the airport. We stayed at the Quality Inn Waikiki on Paoakalani. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe on Kuhio Ave. Then, we walked down the road through all of the shops.
